Eden. The birthplace of life, of everything that would be good and pure in this life. A place where man walked beside God and feared no evil, for evil did not exist. A place so beautiful that words could not be used to describe it.
Eden. Also the birthplace of sin. Where the fall of Adam and Eve left them beaten and tattered, with nothing but the torn clothes on their backs and a fading memory of what used to be. Where sin took over and forever closed the gates on what could be.
Eden. Forever warring with itself between a place of good, and a place that brought evil into the world…
Legend tells of creatures in the night. Dark beings who feed on the weak and take pleasure in evil. Those who run from light, and live in the shadows, forever destined to lurk unseen… no matter how hard I try to fight it, I am one of them.
Eden’s journey began as any other. The child of man and woman, two who lived and loved, whose joy was overwhelming when they learned they would bring a daughter into this world. While away on business, Eden’s mother went to the church. There, she took solace with a priest after a dream drove fear into her heart. She dreamed of evil, of blood and pain, of her unborn child in grave danger.
Once leaving the church, she was attacked, brutally taken over by a man in a cloak, who did not speak, but drove his teeth so deep into her as he drank the very life from her. As he left her to die, his cold, lifeless hands betrayed him for he did not see the teeth marks in his own skin, those earned in a struggle of life. Marks that would forever change the life of his victim, and her unborn child.
Stumbling into the church’s cemetery, the woman gave birth to her child, one whose pure soul was too much for her to bear. As the evil thirst washed over the woman, she craved the blood of her newborn child. The priest in the church had witnessed everything, and while he had taken a stance to stay away from the evil he knew went on around his church, he could not very well stand by and watch an innocent child be murdered. Risking his own life, he saved the child from her savage mother, scaring the evil creature away with a cross. He took in the child, but realized he could not give her to an orphanage because it was too late…the child was at least in part one of the evil creatures like her mother.
Taking pity on the child, the priest raised her within the confines of his church, teaching her to be good and faithful. She was never allowed outside except for at night, and she never questioned it because it was all she knew. She grew up learning passages from the Bible, learning to be incredibly diligent in the ways of the church. The priest who found her, Father Michael, she always looked to as a father. She never knew her real father, or even what happened to him. All she knew of her mother was what she was told – that she was left in the arms of the cement angel that guarded the cemetery.
When Eden turned eighteen, she felt a change within her. She no longer was content staying within the walls of the church in the day, but craved to be let out in the world. On the eve of her eighteenth birthday, Eden went to her father, asking him what she was. She knew there was something different about her. He refused to tell her, telling her that she wasn’t ready to know yet. Growing frustrated, Eden’s primal nature took over and she attacked him. She stopped herself before taking his life and ran out of the church. The attack and the hours following were a complete blur to her, but when she returned before dawn, she found him lying dead on the ground. Falling to her knees, she cried over his body, convinced that she had been the one who ripped his life from him.
While kneeling on the ground in the church, she looked up to the alter as a bright light shone down on her. There before her was a man she shouldn’t recognize, but she did. It was her real father. He explained to her that he had been killed by her mother, but that while Eden was cursed in the same way, was unlike any other vampire ever created. Eden was destined for a lot more, he explained, and she was not to be cursed or damned like the rest. While he could not take away her curse, he blessed her with a gift. There in front of her surrogate father’s body, her shirt was ripped open as black and blue wings tore from her back. Her wings spanned further than she could reach, and while confusion coursed through her, a great inner calm settled in her heart. Her father explained she was unlike anything else. That she could use her curse…being a vampire, and her gift…being saved and given angel’s gifts to fight the things that killed those closest to her.
Eden has lived with her warring curse and gift for five years. And each day does not get any easier.
Appearance: Dark hair is about the only normal thing in Eden’s appearance. Her eyes, a deep shade of red from her childhood, had changed when she was saved from damnation. While her right eye remained red, her left had turned a crystal shade of blue. Eden always wears a cross around her neck, one that was worn by her father and given to her at his funeral. Because of its holy nature, the cross has left a burn in the middle of her chest. Eden has a tattoo on her left shoulder of a cross. The second the artist finished the cross, a deep scar formed along the edges of the cross. She is forever reminded of who she is by the scars that burned her faith into her skin.
Abilities: Super strength and agility, along with flight and the power to heal with her touch.
Disclaimer: I am not Evangeline Lilly, nor do I know her. Just using her to put a face to the name. Eden is a figment of my imagination, along with Sarah Watson - she belongs to us, don't steal anything you may see from her, please.
